Embroidery price calculator
Enter a stitch count, or open the design file to fill it in, then set your rates. You get a price per piece and for the whole order.
What to do next
How the price is worked out
The stitch count is the fairest measure of an embroidery job: it tracks how long the machine runs and how much thread it uses. The calculator multiplies it by your price per 1,000 stitches.
Small designs still take time to hoop, so your minimum per piece takes over when the stitch charge would be lower. Thread changes, materials and a one-time setup fee are added on top.
It’s a starting point, not a rule: round the result, add a rush fee, or give a discount for larger orders as you see fit.
Questions
How much should I charge per 1,000 stitches?
Many home and small-shop embroiderers charge between 0.50 and 1.50 per 1,000 stitches, depending on the area, the fabric and how much handling each piece needs. Start in that range and adjust once you know your own costs.
Where do I find the stitch count?
Open the design file here with "Fill in from a design file" and it’s read for you. It’s also shown in your embroidery software, and in our free embroidery viewer.
Is my design file uploaded?
No. The file is read inside your browser and never leaves your device. Only the stitch count, thread changes and size are used.
Why is there a minimum per piece?
A small monogram can be under 3,000 stitches but still needs hooping, threading and trimming. The minimum makes sure small jobs are still worth your time.
Are my rates saved?
Your rates and currency are saved in this browser only, so they’re there next time. Nothing is sent to us. Use "Reset my rates" to go back to the starting values.
