What converting does, and doesn’t do
Every embroidery format is a list of stitches, thread changes and trims, saved in a different layout for each machine brand. The converter reads that list and writes the same stitches in the layout your machine expects.
It doesn’t redraw or re-digitize the design: stitch positions, density and size stay exactly as they were. That makes it safe for designs that sew well already, but it can’t fix a design that doesn’t.
After converting, each new file is opened again and compared with the original, so you know the stitch count, size and color changes came through. Everything runs in your browser; your files are never uploaded.
Converting a drawing? SVG to PES and SVG to DST explain how to prepare an SVG and what the stitches will be like.
Questions
Which format does my machine use?
Brother and Baby Lock read PES. Janome and Elna read JEF. Husqvarna Viking and Pfaff read VP3. Singer reads XXX. Bernina reads EXP. Commercial machines like Tajima and Ricoma read DST. If you’re unsure, check the USB section of your manual, or choose your brand above.
Will converting change how my design stitches?
No. Every stitch stays in the same place. Only colors can change: DST and EXP don’t store them, and some formats only allow a fixed set of thread colors, so the closest one is used. The converter tells you when that happens.
Can I convert a whole ZIP of fonts or designs?
Yes. Drop the ZIP and every design inside is listed. If the ZIP has the same design in several formats, the one with the most information (usually PES) is used as the source. Download the results one by one or all together as a ZIP.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Converting happens in your browser. Files you’ve bought stay on your device, and nothing is stored or shared.
Can I resize a design while converting?
Not here. Resizing an embroidery file without changing its stitches makes it too dense or too sparse. For a different size, look for the design made at that size, or use your machine’s resize option for small changes (about 10–20%).
Why didn’t my HP1 or MON file open?
A few formats aren’t supported yet. Open the same design in another format if you have it: most designs come with PES and DST included.
Can I convert an SVG to PES or another embroidery format?
Yes, for simple drawings: logos, shapes, outlines and lettering turned into outlines. Drop the SVG, set the width, and choose fill or outlines only. The converter stitches it automatically and you can save it as PES, DST, JEF, VP3, EXP or XXX. It’s basic digitizing: no underlay, no satin columns and no pull compensation, so test-stitch it first. Photos and detailed artwork still need embroidery software or a digitizer.
